I’ve always loved being able to spend twilight with the donkeys. Usually they have a good run and rumble at dusk…
… and then they’re ready to head back to the barns …
… where I’ll top up their evening snack bags. That used to be long after dinner and just before bed. Now it is inky black before we start to cook. It’s such a great calm part of the day for the herd. Just like in the early morning everyone wants a good scratch down and cuddle. I haul my trusty blue milk carton out to sit beside the feed bins and commune with my buddies.
The hard part is trying to leave the paddock without one of them following me to the gate to mug for just a few more scrunchies!
