She has arrived! Meet Bella Sky – the final addition to the Meadow herd.
Bella arrived with Caroline and Corey Feaver. Their farm is in the Cookstown area. She was born in July and so is about five months old. Her summer coat is pitch black.
Her winter coat covers that with chocolate brown fuzz! She has a narrow nose (similar to Darby’s) and has grey/blue eyes. She is much smaller than even Rosie at this point. Think more the size of a collie.
Right off the bat the trio came over to greet her. There was an amazing meeting of four noses as they all said hello. She was quick to notice where the hay was and mozied up for some chow time. As is often the case – it is Paco who is the most relaxed around her.
Her mom looked similar in colouring to Darby. So I noticed her take a good long look and a quick check to see if she could nurse there … no go.
She loves to be petted and brushed. As I write this I have the donkey paddock ‘nanny cam’ here on my desk. I can see her following Darby and Rosie around the yard. I’m borrowing a term from the Goodall family – we now have the ‘bigs’ and the ‘littles’ in our family too.
So … I may once again be tempted to sleep in the barn … Nervous but happy donkey mom signing off!
